Hours 1 thru 3

I got started a little late (8:30 am EST).

Time spent reading: 2 hours
Time spent blogging: .5 hours
Pages read: 120
Currently reading: The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein.

Hour 1 Mini Challenge

Where I’m reading from: My house

3 facts about me. I’m Irish, have the world’s most adorable cat, and will be taking a reading break to cheer on my Yankees tonight.

Books in my TBR stock: 10+
War and Peace (to possibly start)

Goals: Enjoy myself and polish off some shorter books and/or library books and/or recent acquisitions.

Advice: Don’t be afraid to sleep or otherwise take breaks.

Hour 2 mini-challenge: Favorite Childhood Books:

I  adore/d Anne of Green Gables. Anne has always been a girl after my own heart with lots of imagination. The adventures of Mrs. Switch and the Wayside School books also spring to mind.  I also had a strange fascination with books about girls in boarding schools.orite Childhood Book/s

Since I forgot to plan out a reading day today, I’m being a stealth cheerleader. I’m also an Anne of Green Gables fan 🙂 And, speaking of fans, my dad has been a Yankees fan since back in the 30’s. So, he’ll be cheering them on tonight, too.

    • Wow since back in the 30s…Then he’s seen a lot of awesome Yankees. I got into baseball through my Dad (who’s been watching them since the 60s). There’s few thins that would make me stop reading tonight…but the Yankees are one of them.

    (Non)traditional Buddhist readathon blessing:

Just as the books fill the shelves,
Pile together on the floor and stack up on the table
So may the joy of the readathon
Flow forth to brighten your day and lift your spirit.
Books already read, books in progress and books yet to be read.

By the power of every word on the page
    May your book be delightful,
    As scary as Lovecraft’s Cthulhu
Or as sweet as a box of See’s candy.

Let the power of the images evoked by words
Keep you stay awake long through the night
    May no obstacle impede
    Your day filled with books.

For all of those who are reading today
Who follow in the path of Dewey
May your day be filled with the four blessings
Of fabulous books, tasty snacks, comfy chairs and joy.

I’m impressed you’ve got War and Peace on your stack!
I loved Anne too. Read all the books voraciously when I was younger. I hope you have a great day.
    Happy reading!

  5. Trisha says:

    One, Two, Three, Four
Get one done and read some more
    Five, Six, Seven, Eight
Reading so much, can’t see straight
    Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve
Pick another up off the shelf!
    Happy Reading!
